Lady Miner netters top North Daviess

Linton-Stockton defeated North Daviess 4-1 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference girls tennis match Thursday at Linton. The match had been rescheduled from Tuesday.

The lone win for the Lady Cougars came at No. 1 singles. ND’s Shae Knepp dropped the first set to Linton’s Audrey Moore 3-6 but came back to take the next two 6-2, 6-4.

In the No. 2 position the Lady Miners’ Ellie Brewer also lost the first set 1-6 but rebounded to take the next two by 6-4 scores over Macie Kane.

At three singles Emily Hayden won in straight sets over the Lady Cougars’ Chavannah Chestnut 6-2, 6-3.

The Lady Miners swept both doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles Haydyn House and Reghan Moody blanked Shelby Taylor and Lauren Kain 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 spot Isabel Meek and Taylor Riggleman had nearly as easy a time winning 6-0, 6-1 over the North Daviess duo of Anna Sargent and Abigail Giesler.

The Lady Miners travel to Princeton Saturday morning.
