Still time to sign up for the Open Arms Golf Scramble

There is still time to sign up for the 17th Annual Open Arms Christian Ministries’ “Fore Kids” Golf Scramble set for Saturday, Sept. 8 at Stone Crest Golf Community near Bedford.

This year’s event has a new location, moving from Country Oaks Golf Course in Montgomery to be more centrally located to Open Arms’ service area. Stone Crest golf course is situated on 540 acres and provides three different and unique nine-hole golf layouts.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward on-going renovation costs for Open Arms’ Turning Point Education Center (TPEC) building. Turning Point Education is growing each year and this year has graduated more than 86 students.

Corporate sponsors for this year’s event include Powers Orthodontics, Dr. Scott Powers DDS, Odon Locker, Risa Dyar Real Estate, Crane Federal Credit Union, Mutual Bank, Stoll & Graber CPAs, Bloomfield American Legion Post 196, Mid-America Radio Group and French Lick Resort.

Cost is $300 per team with pre-registration prior to Aug. 31. This includes green fees, cart rental, driving range use, breakfast, lunch and prizes. Registration from Sept. 1-8 is $330 per team.

Multi-team registration from the same organization or business is $260 per team.

New this year will be players who are 60 years or older. Eligible players can play from the ‘senior tees’.

Anyone who does not have a team can still play by signing up as a single for $75 before Sept. 1 ($82.50 after Sept. 1) and you will be paired with a team on the day of the tournament.

The four-man, best ball scramble will open with registration, a breakfast and driving range practice starting at 7 a.m. A putting contest will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 8 a.m.,

A luncheon – featuring pulled pork and pork burgers, and awards program will be hosted at the end of play at about 12:30 p.m.

Another new addition this year will be a silent auction featuring some great gift items.

Registration can be done online at www.openarmschristian.com/events or a registration form can be picked up at the Open Arms administrative office, located on State Road 54, one mile east of Switz City (across the road from the Greene County Fairgrounds) during business hours Monday through Friday.
