Bragging rights secured (until next year)
Linton VFW Post 7118 held an inaugural Chili Cook-off Saturday evening. With 15 entries, judges Kathy Matthews, Mayor John Wilkes, Clerk-Treasurer Jathan Wright and GCDW’s Patti Danner had their work cut out for them. Entries were labeled with letters A-O and judges scored them based on color, aroma, consistency and taste/aftertaste. First-place winner Tammy James received a gift basket filled with goodies as well as the bragging rights that go along with the coveted champion’s apron. Second-place winners Monty Harp and Sheri Warrick received a deluxe cutting board, spices and a 2019 calendar and third-place winner Roger James received a calendar and a six-pack of chili spices. Prizes were donated by Linton’s Tracy Keen and the event raised $400 for Greene County Toys for Tots.
