Wednesday, January 30, 2019

• The Fellowship Baptist Church in Linton will open its doors during the day this week to serve as a warming center as extreme cold temperatures are expected to hit the area. The church, located at the intersection of 15th Street and Price Road in Linton, will be open at least from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to Carmen Hudson. If anyone needs a place to keep warm, they can call the church at 812-847-2548, or stop by the church. Hudson said the basement door will be unlocked during those hours, or they can enter under the canopy at the church.

• East Shelter in Humphreys Park in Linton will be open as a warming center from 6 p.m. January 29 - 6 p.m. January 31

• Bloomfield Community Building, located at 498 N. Lincoln (across the street from the pool), from 8 a.m. January 30 - 4 p.m. January 31

According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could reach 40 degrees below zero.

Roger Axe, Director of Greene County Emergency Services, advises residents to visit http://gcema.ddns.net/ for more emergency cold weather information.
