King’s Daughters Ministry ‘Arise Deborahs Arise’, is holding its 4th Annual Ladies’ Conference on at the 4H Fairgrounds in Bloomfield. The conference will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and lunch will be provided. The keynote speaker this year will be Whitney Putnam of Imperfectly Brave Ministry. Admission is free and registration for the event can be done online at www.kingsdaughters.info. A teen break-out session will be held for ages 12-18. Organizers will also be crowning one lovely lady as “Queen for the Day.” When you register, you can nominate someone on the website. The Little Cincinnati Christian Church will host a benefit at 7 p.m. The benefit is for Diane Campbell, a local resident who is fighting a battle with cancer. The benefit will feature two of S. Indiana’s best quartets, the White River traditional quartet and the By Faith mixed quartet. The Cincinnati Christian Church is located at 11432 E. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 479 of Lyons will hold their monthly breakfast from 7-11 a.m. at the Post Home in Lyons. The Bloomfield First Baptist Church Community Food Pantry is located at 500 Lincoln Drive in Bloomfield. The pantry serves individuals and families in the following zip codes: 47424 Bloomfield, 47439 Koleen, 47449 Newberry, 47453 Owensburg/Desden, 47457 Scotland and 47522 Crane. The hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9-11 a.m. and Tuesday evening from 4:30-6 p.m. Eligibility is determined by monthly/yearly income and proof of residence. All individuals or family may visit once a month and proof of residence is required each visit.
The Friends of the Bloomfield Library Book Shop is in the Library Annex on the square across from the Court House in Bloomfield. The Book Shop is open Tuesdays 10-1, Wednesdays 10-1, Thursdays 1-4 and first Saturdays 1-4. The Linton Public Library will begin their Adult/Teen Winter Reading Challenge on Jan. 14. The event will last through the last day of February. Teens who read two books will get either a 2-liter soda, a large can of Pringles or a box of movie candy and can enter for a chance to win a teen’s night out to Taco Bell and the Linton Movie Theater. Teens may enter up to four times. Adults will read for chances to win one of several different gift baskets.
Center Township Trustee meeting will be the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Department.
Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) support group meets on the second Tuesday each month at 6 p.m. at Redemption Christian Church in Loogootee. This group is for caregivers of those affected by FTD. The Scotland Historical Society has Greene County themed afghans to sell. The town of Switz City will conduct its monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Switz City Town Hall. If the Monday falls on a holiday, the meeting will be conducted the following Tuesday. The town hall is located at 220 Charlotte Avenue in Switz City.
