There is still time to sign up for the Seventh Annual Open Arms Spirit Sprint 5K Run/Walk set for Saturday, June 1 at Worthington Town Park.

Proceeds from this year’s event are earmarked to assist with the opening and operation of the new Open Arms Christian Ministries’ HeBron Home for Boys in Lyons.

New this year will be a competitive 5K walk, as well as a one-mile family run/walk. There will also be a newly-designed in-town course, which begins and ends at the Worthington Town Park. The course is flat and competitive for all age levels, according to Nick Schneider, Open Arms’ Community Development Coordinator.

“This is a great community event, and this year we are excited with the new course and new race additions,” Schneider said. “This is a chipped time event and we are anticipating a good crowd of race runners and walkers. Open Arms is proud to be able to offer this race this year and we appreciate the runners and walkers who support the race and by doing so, support our growing ministry.”

5K run, 5K competitive walk and one-mile family walk/run entry fee is $25 per person with a $30 per person registration fee on the day of the race. All entries include an event t-shirt.

In the 5K run, medals will be awarded to best overall racer as well as the first and second-place finishers in each age category for males and females.

Cost of the Kid’s fun run is $10 per person and does not include a t-shirt. A shirt can be purchased for $10.

May 24 is the deadline to register in order to have the shirt for the day of the race.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with 5K Run/Walk Race at 8 a.m. followed by the Family Walk/Run at 8:10 am. The Kids Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m.
