FREE ACCESS: severe thunderstorm warning declared

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Monroe County in south central Indiana, Southern Brown County in south central Indiana, Greene County in southwestern Indiana and Northern Lawrence County in south central Indiana until 7 p.m. EDT.

At 6:22 p.m. EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Bloomington, moving southeast at 15 mph. 70 mph wind gusts are possible. Considerable tree damage is likely. Damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include Bloomington, Linton, Bloomfield, Nashville, Oolitic, Lyons, Switz City, Newberry, Smithville, Lake Lemon, Bartlettsville, Avoca, Monroe Reservoir, Woodville Hills, Elkinsville, Charles Deam Wilderness, Vicksburg, Stone Head, Unionville and Story.

Officials are advising residents to

move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
