What can I throw out in my trash?

The City of Linton Street and Sanitation Department offers these guidelines for approved and non-approved items they will pick up during their regular trash pick-up rotation.

What you can throw out

(All trash must be in approved containers or be in bags)

• Container must be weather-proof.

• Containers must have lids and handles.

• Limit of four 33-gallon bags.

• Maximum weight is 50 pounds per can and 15 pounds per bag.

• No loose trash, trash must be in approved container or bag.

• Household trash only.

• Trash must be set at curbside by 5 a.m. the morning of pick-up.

What you can’t throw out

• Construction material, including but not limited to roofing, flooring, drywall, wood, concrete, windows, appliances and bedding.

• Hazardous waste, including but not limited to paint, oils, batteries, TVs, computers and tires.

• Dirt, sand, rock, yard waste, grass clippings, limbs and leaves.

• Animal waste and kitty litter (unless it is bagged AND under 10 pounds).

• No loose trash or trash in cardboard boxes.

Some items cab be taken to the recycling center. Their hours are Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge for recyclable materials and cardboard.
