Steelman Kempo Karate took some of their experienced students to Fort Wayne Nov. 2 for the Lions Karate Tournament.

Maranda Yoder, age 13, received first place in open hand kata and second in weapons kata. Andria Yoder, age 11, received fourth place in both open hand and weapons kata.

Allison Steelman, age 5, did not place but did very well and gained valuable experience.

"This was the very first tournament that these students participated in and I am proud of what they accomplished today," said Instructor John Steelman.

Steelman Kempo Karate is located just south of Bloomfield and off of Highway 231.
