Dorthy Elaine (Richmond) Hale, 76, of Plesantville, passed away on Jan. 29, 2020 at Sullivan County Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Jan. 4, 1944 to Kennith Richmond and Mabel (Spaulding) Richmond. She was a 1962 graduate of Sullivan High School. Dorothy received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Indiana State University, in Fine Arts and Interior Design. She worked first as a commercial artist for Industrial Research, a publishing house for two scientific magazines in Beverly Shores, before returning to college to get a Teaching License. She taught Art in Sullivan and Portage, before marrying her husband, David Hale, in 1972. She ran an Antique Shop in Sullivan and Carlisle for many years and did Antique shows for many years in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and Indiana. She was a member of the Sullivan Art Guild and the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jerry Richmond.
