Greene County General Hospital moves outpatient labs, adds virtual visits and expands Convenient Care hours amid COVID-19 concerns

Linton -- Due to growing statewide COVID-19 coronavirus concerns, Greene County General Hospital has relocated its outpatient lab to the TeamOrtho Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center for routine lab work (blood and urine tests only) in an effort to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.

TeamOrtho is located next to the hospital at 1043 North 1000 West in Linton (across from Walmart). The clinic will draw routine labs from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. GCGH is asking patients to please take lab orders to TeamOrtho and to call their providers if they have any questions.

In addition, My Clinics are offering telehealth visits. Telehealth visits allow patients to virtually visit a provider from home though an internet connection. Patients must have access to a computer or smartphone with camera capabilities and an active email address. Visits are for non-emergent conditions only and patients are asked to call 812-847-4481 with questions about telehealth, questions about what visits are approved through telehealth or to schedule an appointment.

Also, to better serve the community, the My Linton Clinic Convenient Care is now open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Convenient Care (no appointment needed) was available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the My Linton Clinic (1210 N 1000 West Linton, IN), but with the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, we are updating our services to include weekend hours in response to the needs of our community.

Per the ISDH, currently there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Greene County, but because GCGH is committed to the safety of our patients, staff and the community, we are utilizing an off-site location for lab work, offering telehealth visits and adding weekend hours to our My Linton Clinic Convenient Care. In addition, we ask that lab patients do not bring visitors with them to TeamOrtho. GCGH is also sharing the following recommendations:

The CDC is recommending that no one shake hands, hug others, or engage in non-essential physical contact.

The CDC recommends proper hand hygiene including washing hands or using hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol content.

The CDC and ISDH has recommended that individuals over 60 years of age or those with a known underlying health issue such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes or chronic respiratory disease should limit their public exposure.

The ISDH recommends staying home in self-isolation unless there is a serious medical situation requiring attention.

Anyone with questions or concerns should call the Indiana State Department of Health coronavirus 24/7 hotline at 877-826-0011

The best resources for coronavirus COVID-19 information are the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/ and the ISDH website https://www.in.gov/isdh/

In addition, our TeamOrtho lab and My Linton Clinic Convenient Care are prepared to screen patients suspected of a coronavirus infection by asking:

* Has the patient traveled, been exposed to someone who traveled or who has been exposed to a positive case in the past 14-30 days?

* Does the patient have the following symptoms?

- Fever

- Cough

- Shortness of breath

State and local health officials stressed that anyone with symptoms should call their doctor or hospital before seeking care. Advanced notice allows our providers to prepare for the patient’s arrival, reducing exposure to staff and other patients. The GCGH main phone number is 812-847-2281 and the My Clinics phone number is 812-847-4481.
