Thursday, March 19, 2020

MSD of Shakamak Superintendent Nick Karazsia sent out a message to parents Thursday afternoon, following the executive order from Indiana Governor Holcomb to keep schools closed until May 1.

"I'm sure you have heard by now that Gov. Holcomb has closed all schools up to May 1. Additionally, the 2020 spring assessments are also cancelled. The Indiana Department of Education sent a parent letter to us about the cancellation of the assessments and they would like us to share that letter with you," Karazsia said in a call out to families.

The letter can be found on the school's website, or by clicking here.

Shakamak Schools will be on Spring Break next week, so there will be no eLearning or meals during this time. But, will return to eLearning and providing the meals after the break for the week of March 30-April 3 as planned.

While instruction after April 3 is uknown at this time, Karazsia said the school will continue with the meal program through the month of April.

“At this time, we have not made the decision on how we will proceed with our eLearning. That decision will be made over the next or so, and we will definitely share that decision with all of you," Karazsia said.

"I'd like to thank you for your understanding, patience and support during this unique and difficult time."
