Glenburn loses first resident to COVID-19
Glenburn officials say they have experienced their first loss to the coronavirus.
Tuesday afternoon, officials at Glenburn Home senior living community in Linton took to social media to announce the death of a resident.
“Please join us in keeping this resident and their loved ones in your prayers, as they grieve this terrible loss,” Glenburn Home officials wrote. “They need our support at this difficult time, and Glenburn Home is doing everything we can to be helpful.”
The post reiterated that the home follows all privacy, patient care, employee safety and other guidelines set forth to help stop the spread of the virus. Families are receiving continual updates, though the home is bound by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines to protect patient privacy.
“While caring for residents in isolation, staff follow all federal and state guidelines for wearing full protective equipment, including medical gowns, gloves, eye protection and masks, and are restricted to working solely in their units,” officials wrote.
The home will continue to update the community on its residents, families, staff and the measures they are taking in response to ongoing developments.
“On behalf of the entire Glenburn community, we mourn with the family of our residents, as they deal with their loss. Please keep them, our residents and staff in your prayers.”
Once statistics on the Indiana Department of Health’s website are changed, this will bring the Greene county death total to 2.
