Bloomfield student brings home the trophies

Allison Steelmen entered into an online karate tournament on May 17, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person tournaments were canceled. Lions Karate School in northern Indiana got creative and had participants submit videos of their katas to be judged by multiple black belts over a period of a week. On May 24, the results came in that Allison Steelman won 1st place in both categories of open hand kata and weapons kata with a bo staff. She is a 3rd year karate student in the discipline of Ryukyu Kempo. She receives instruction from her father John Steelman, 4th degree master black belt in the same discipline.
