A 32-year-old man was taken into custody Friday morning after being found in his car with a handgun at White River Valley High School.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Friday, Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to White River Valley High School with a report of a suspicious person on the property.

Phillip Lash, 32, of Switz City was found in a car on school property by School Resource Officer Ronald Sparks. Sparks believed Lash to be acting suspiciously.

Deputies searched Lash upon arrival at the school and found him in possession of a firearm.

Marijuana was also found in Lash's pocket during a search while being booked into Greene County Jail.

Lash was taken into custody and charged with possession of a handgun without a license, possession of a firearm on school property and possession of marijuana.

Authorities do not currently know why Lash was at the school, but he does live in the area. Authorities reported that no students were involved in the incident.
