FREE ACCESS: Bloomfield police issue Duke scam warning

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, Bloomfield police warned citizens about calls being received that are claiming to be from Duke Energy.

The department writes “If you receive a call where the caller identifies as a Duke Energy representative and they threaten to shut off your power, do not give any personal information. Hang up, call Duke Energy on another phone to report the fraud and/or check on the alleged disconnect.”

According to BPD, one of the numbers the fraudulent calls are being made from is (812)-328-5258.
