Linton, Bloomfield and North Daviess make up most of All-SWIAC team
Linton, Bloomfield and North Daviess all shared the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference title this season in boys basketball and it is reflected in the All-SWIAC team that was announced Wednesday.
The three teams all have four players represented between the All-SWIAC team and All-SWIAC honorable mention. Linton nearly has its entire starting lineup on the team in junior Joey Hart, junior Logan Webb, sophomore Braden Walters and senior Drew Smith. Webb and Hart made the team last season. Linton won its fourth sectional title in consecutive years this past Saturday and will play Providence at 11:30 a.m. in the Southridge Regional Saturday.
Bloomfield is represented by senior Baylin Graf, senior Ryan Schulte, junior Peter Combs and an honorable mention in junior Justin Beard. Graf repeats from this team a year ago while Combs was upgraded from an honorable mention in 2020-21. Bloomfield earned its fourth sectional in five years last Saturday and will take on Jac-Cen-Del at noon in the Martinsville Regional.
North Daviess was represented by Jaylen Mullen, Logan Wilson, Lance Wilson and an honorable mention in Devin Collins.
Shakamak has senior Coy Gilbert and sophomore J.T. May on the team. Senior Oscar Pegg was named as an honorable mention. Both Gilbert and May made the team last season. The Lakers had their first winning season since 2017.
Eastern Greene had one on the team in senior Bryan Rippy. White River Valley was featured by an honorable mention in Eli Crites.
Eastern Greene had the most players on the All-SWIAC girls team with four. The Lady Thunderbirds won their first SWIAC title since 2005 and featured senior Indy Workman, junior Kenady Hudson, sophomore Keylee Hudson and freshman Kenli Sullivan on the team. Both the Hudson sisters made the team a season ago while Workman was upgraded from honorable mention.
The Lady Miners had three players on the All-SWIAC team as all three are first timers on the squad. Sophomores Bradie Chambers, Sydney Jerrells and junior Rylee Hallatt made the list and will look to be on the All-SWIAC team again next year.
Bloomfield, who repeated as sectional champions, had two players on the list in juniors Briana Bucher and Delaney Richardson. Senior Kinley Moody was listed as an honorable mention. Bucher makes the All-SWIAC team for a second consecutive year while Richardson was an honorable mention last year.
Shakamak nearly had a winning season thanks to freshman Elayni Stone and senior Jaci Stone who both made the All-SWIAC team. Jaci Stone made the list after being an honorable mention her junior season.
White River Valley was represented by junior Kylie Palmer on the All-SWIAC team and senior Maycee Antibus as an honorable mention.
