The City of Jasonville will have a clean-up day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The city will provide volunteers to clean up some of the properties, Those wishing to use this service can call the mayor’s office at (812) 665-2266 to schedule a time.

The Linton Public Library will host Storytime at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers and preschoolers. Join for books, songs, rhymes and crafts.

Join the Old Tobacco Barn in Solsberry in creating a denim apron with a meadow of sunflowers painted on it. Bring your own project piece (denim jacket or shirt) if you desire. The Linton Public Library will host Bingo for Books from 1-2 p.m.. Prizes are geared more towards an adult reader and include such authors as Nora Roberts and James Patterson.

The Worthington Library will host “Epic Temperatures” at 2 p.m.. Explore the extremely cool science of temperature and energy. Using a “mystery substance”, you will learn how solids, liquids and gases change when placed in extreme temperatures. Discover what happens to balloons, bananas and more as they interact with our “mystery substance”. This exciting show features shattering racquetballs, a cool cloud geyser and much more. This free program is for preschool through sixth-grade ages, but all are welcome.

Bark or Treat at the Greene County Humane Society will be from 12-6 p.m.. Pet costume contest, food trucks, bounce house and more will be available followed at 8 p.m. by the Haunted Trail.

The Judith Montgomery family will be in concert at the Newark Lighthouse Church in Solsberry at 6 p.m.. Pastor Samuel Hill welcomes everyone to attend.

The Pruett-Bowersock 2022 Family Reunion will take place at the Community Park Building in Worthington. A pitch-in dinner will be held at 12:30 p.m..

Monday, October 24

The Executive Board of the Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative will meet in executive session at 9 a.m.. This will be followed by the regular meeting at 9:30 a.m.. Both meetings will be held in the conference room at the Greene Sullivan Special Education Cooperative in Linton.

The Bloomfield Board of School Trustees will meet for a regular session at 5:30 p.m. in the middle/high school media center. This meeting will cover the explanation of the tentative agreement for teacher contracts. The public is welcome to attend.

Tuesday, October 25

The Greene County 4-H Open House will take place in Heshey Hall at the fairgrounds from 5:30-7 p.m.. Come find out all that 4-H has to offer. Livestock and community club leaders will be there to answer questions.

“Meet the Candidates” for Bloomfield Board of School Trustees .Bloomfield Teacher’s Association is sponsoring the event, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

The Linton Public Library will host Little Movers for Preschoolers at 10:30 a.m..

Memory Makers Quilt and Craft Club will meet from 12-4 p.m. in the Bloomfield-Greene County Library Community Room at 125 S. Franklin Street. Bring any project you wish to work on. Jasonville trick-or-treating hours will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Check out Free Frightening Fun at the Shawnee Theatre. Trunk or treat will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m.. Treat cars are to be in place by 6 p.m.. The theatre will show “Ghostbusters” with the original 1984 cast on the Shawnee big screen at 7:45 p.m.. Meet the Kool Kids Sleuths after the movie. They will be conducting a private paranormal investigation at the Shawnee after hours. Sponsored by Owen County State Bank. Free refreshments and free treat bags included.

The Worthington Halloween Bash will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Trunk or Treat, kids activities and a costume contest. Entry is free. A Halloween dance will take place at 206 E Main St. from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Cost is $2 per person. The Witches Ride will begin at 6 p.m. at WRV Elementary and end at N Washington St.. Open to all ages, entry fee is $10.

Sunday, October 30

Linton trick-or-treat hours will be from 5-8:30 p.m..

The Worthington Halloween Bash Concert in the Park will begin at 12 p.m. with the opening act. The Greene County Community Band will perform from 1:30-2:15 p.m. followed by Michael Norris from 2:15-3 p.m., Piney Woods and the Strip Mall from 3-5 p.m. and ending with Wonder Band.

Shakamak Youth League will host Trunk or Treat from 6-8 p.m. at Hannah Field. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their trunks and hand out candy for a safe experience.

Greene County Shrine Club will have a Spot Shoot with sign-ups starting at 8 p.m..

Monday, October 31

Bloomfield trick-or treat hours will be from 6-9 p.m..

Linton trick-or-treat hours will be from 5-8:30 p.m..

The Linton Public Library will host a Halloween costume contest from 4-5:45 p.m.. Drop by in your costume and take a picture in our photo spot. Preschool, elementary and teen prizes will be awarded for the best costume in each age category.

Spookfest will be held in downtown Linton. Halloween parade starts at the high school at 6 p.m. and arrives at the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. Costume contest with prizes begins at 6:30 p.m..

Thursday, November 3

Lyons Community Center will host a Longaberger, tool and Thirty-One Bingo event. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with supper provided. Bingo will begin at 6:30 p.m..Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Lyons Town Hall, Cathy’s Beauty Salon in Switz City or at Southside Express in Linton. A special drawing will be held for advance ticket owners. Additional bingo sheets may be purchased at the door.

Solsberry United Methodist Church will host their Christmas Shoppe event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Items available will include canned goods, homemade baked goods, Christmas trees, handmade fabric and crocheted items, kitchen wares, baby accessories, flower arrangements, wreaths, home decor, nuts, cutlery, tote bags, gifts and other miscellaneous items. The church is located across the railroad tracks from Yoho’s General Store, so guests are encouraged to purchase lunch in between shopping.

The Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fish fry from 4-7 p.m. at the fire station. Fish, slaw, baked beans, potato salad and dessert will be served. A free-will donation will be accepted.

Jasonville Fire Department and Wright Township Fire Department will have a joint fundraiser from 4-8 p.m.. It will be held at Jasonville firehouse. There will be all-you-can eat chili, chicken noodle, broccoli cheddar and potato soup, ham salad and peanut butter sandwiches and tea or lemonade. Cost for adults is $5 and kids are $3. Desserts and bottled water are $1.

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Bloomfield Chapter 0847 will hold their regular monthly meeting at Bloomfield’s Casa Sevilla Restaurant starting at 11:30 a.m.. All federal employees, retirees and spouses are invited to attend.

Worthington Tri Kappa is hosting their first annual 5K Walk/Run, Worthington Waddle, from 9-10 a.m.. Dress festive if desired. Overall male and female winners will take home a frozen turkey. Ongoing & Future Events

Jasonville Public Library will host a story hour the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.. Stories are read, crafts are made and treats are enjoyed. All are welcome.

The Eastern branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host story time from 10-10:45 a.m. every Wednesday. All children are welcome

Feed My Sheep Bible Book store is offering a Christian intervention program for drug and alcohol abuse. This is a 20-week ongoing program. Feed My Sheep is located at 74 1/2 South Main Street in Linton.

WestGate at Crane Authority will meet at the WestGate@Crane Academy Building at 13598 E. Westgate Dr., Odon Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 The meetings will start at 1:30 p.m. and will typically last 90 minutes. Meetings will be in-person, but will be dependent on COVID levels. Zoom will be an option, and the Zoom link can be found by contacting gejones@sidc.cc or (812) 709-0760.

The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings begin at 5 p.m. in the Library Annex.

Scotland Community Church, located at 7748 S Pleasant St in Scotland, holds worship services at 10:30 a.m.. For more information, please call 812-863-4160. The Ladies Aid meets every third Wednesday at noon at the church. Come join the fellowship and fun. You need not be a member to join. The Community Men’s Group meets every second Saturday at 8 a.m. at the church. Breakfast is served. Everyone is invited. You do not have to be a member of the church.

The Greene County Literacy Coalition hosts twice-weekly meetings to foster language learning for native English and Spanish speakers. The group meets from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Annex and Wednesdays at the Linton Public Library. Apostolics of Greene County offers free lunch, good conversation and optional bible study at Grandma Bault’s Soup Kitchen located at Apostolic Church 310 E Vincennes Street in Linton every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Word is given from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Dugger American Legion will host bingo from 6-9 p.m. each Saturday evening.

Newberry Town Council meetings are the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at town hall. If it is a holiday, the meeting will be the next evening, Tuesday at 6 p.m. Year-end business, Dec. 29, 2022 at 6 p.m. Newberry Town Hall, 430 Broad St. (St Rd 57).

Author Charlotte Melcher Smith will be hosting an eight-week series based on her book, “Life’s Third Tri: Wisdom for Mystified Mothers Who Love Adult Children”, where she will lead women on a quest to navigate the empty-nest years. All women are welcome. The book is available on Amazon and will be available for purchase on the day of each class. Classes will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:45 a.m. in the Bloomfield First Baptist Church sanctuary.
