Louie Eugene “Gene” McGlothlin

Louie Eugene “Gene” McGlothlin, 89, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his residence.

Born April 8, 1933 in Bloomfield, he was the son of Glen Clayton and Goldia Mae (Booker) McGlothlin.

Gene was a mobile crane operator for NSWC Crane and was a member of the Mineral United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Switz City. He served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Joan (Frye) McGlothlin, whom he married on April 24, 1953; one son, James McGlothlin; two daughters, Rhonda Hendricks (Jim) and Pam Poe (George); one sister, Jerri Achors; brother-in-law, Dave Frye (Peggy); his grandchildren, Jayme Porter (Justin), Charles Hendricks (Cassi), Brant McGlothlin (Alexis Walters), Bryce McGlothlin and Nick Poe; and his great-grandchildren, Shaylin, Madison, Zylah, Ayden, Caden and Aspen.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Mae McGlothlin, Violet Ruth McGlothlin and Juanita Williams; a great-grandson, Tyler, and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Public Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Booker Family Cemetery in care of Jenkins Funeral Home.
