Richard Elvin Price, 91, of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1932 in Greene County, the son of Curtis and Laura A. (Burch) Price. Richard was a 1950 graduate of Solsberry High School. After high school he joined the US Navy proudly serving his country during the Korean War.

Richard married the love of his life Wanda Jewel (Baker) Martindale on May 19, 1958 in Bloomington. He became a dad to Wilma and Danny when he married Wanda. Richard worked for Wetterau Food Industry as a forklift driver for over 33 years before retiring.

He enjoyed playing Euchre, being outside taking care of his lawn, gardening, going to the casino and also going out to eat with his family. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Richard is survived by his children, Wilma (Gene) Cox of Solsberry and Danny (Debra) Martindale of Bloomfield; his four grandchildren, Terry Cox, Tony Cox, DeAngela Powell and Dalicia Cunningham; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Crutcher, Addilyn Crutcher, Brianna Cunningham and Hanna Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Laura Price; his four brothers, Curtis Price, Dexter Price, Robert Price and Calvin Price; four sisters, Geneva Harper, Marjorie Rowe, Mildred Sarver and Georgie Spinks.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington.

Burial will follow at the Solsberry Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 and from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 both at the funeral home.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon event fund, or the Solsberry Cemetery.
