Mobile food pantry coming to park May 20

Organizers of the regular food giveaway at Humphreys Park in Linton have announced a date of Monday, May 20 for the next event.

Feeding America and Greene County Health Inc. will host a free drive-thru community food giveaway on Monday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until supplies last at Linton’s Humphreys Park, located at 1300 NE A Street.

Anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to attend. Distributions will be limited to one per household and will be distributed while supplies last. There are no requirements for families and individuals wishing to receive food.

Community partners include Greene County Health Inc., Feeding America, Meek Financial, Voldico Insurance and French Financial Agency and the City of Linton and Mayor John Preble. New community partners are always welcome.

The food that will be included in the giveaway includes assorted items such as bread, canned meats, boxed dinners, protein, beans, produce such as cabbage or salads and staples such as peanut butter or crackers that can be kept for long periods of time.

Greene County Health’s first food pantry giveaway was in August of 2022. Another was held during the Linton Fall Arts festival in 2022, another January 30, where over 400 were fed and more are scheduled for every third Monday of each month.
