Stephanie Shelton with Cancer Support Community South Central Indiana will share the many programs and services her organization provides for those who are facing cancer at the William T. Murphy Community and Wellness Center, located at 615 W Glenburn Rd in Linton, at 11 a.m.. Their purpose is that no one faces cancer alone. A free lunch will be served. The Greene County Veterans Council will meet at 7 p.m. at Autumn Trace Senior Community, located at 1150 County Road 1000 W Linton.
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Bloomfield Chapter 0847 will meet at the Casa Sevilla Restaurant in Bloomfield at 11:30 a.m.. The business meeting will follow the luncheon, and all Federal employees, retirees and spouses are invited and encouraged to attend.
The Bloomfield Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. in the Bloomfield central office conference room, 501 West Spring Street.

Narcan training will take place at the William T. Murphy Senior Center located at 618 Glenburn Rd in Linton from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Learn what to do in case of an overdose and how to administer the lifesaving overdose reversal agent known as Naloxone or Narcan. MSD of Shakamak will host a resource fair from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Elementary and Jr./Sr. High libraries. Connect to local services and enter to win prizes. Bloomfield High School will host an art show from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Join as they showcase and celebrate an interpretation of unity created by Bloomfield students and members of the community. Light refreshments will be served.

Linton Public Library will host Spin-a-Yarn at 1 p.m.. We will be combining a book club with an art club. Come and discuss what books you are reading as you work on your art projects, whether they be knitting and crochet or painting. We won’t be assigning books to read or teaching new projects, just relaxing and having fun together.
Memory Makers Quilt and Craft Club will meet from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bloomfield-Greene County Library Community Room at 125 S. Franklin Street. There will be a pitch-in lunch, so come join for quilting, crafting, food and sharing recipes. Everyone is welcome. Bring any project you want to start or finish and the supplies needed. The Fourth Annual Madi’s Day of Hope is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Linton’s Humphreys Park. This year’s event will help build the Madi’s Hope Foundation, with a major goal of providing gift baskets to sick children. The organization’s namesake, the late Madison Moore, was on the receiving end of similar gifts during her time at Riley Children’s Hospital and her family wants to give back in a similar way.

The Worthington-Jefferson Township Public Library will present “Abraham Lincoln, American Hero” at 6 p.m. at the library, located at 26 N Commercial Street in Worthington. Lincoln, portrayed by professional historical actor Danny Russel, will provide guests with a spoken history of Lincoln and his character strengths shaped largely in the Midwest, such as his honest nature, love of learning, mastery of language, respect for hard work, empathy for his fellow man, opposition to slavery and ability to lead.

Boone, portrayed by professional historical actor Danny Russel, will tell stories of his life including his loss of two sons and a brother settling “the dark and bloody ground of Kentucky”, discovering caverns in Southern Indiana, rescuing his kidnapped daughter, defeating Native Americans and teaching a few Shawnee phrases.

Ongoing & Future Events
The Bloomfield Pool will open for the season during Memorial Day weekend.
The Dugger Coal Festival will take place Sept. 27 and 28 with a parade on Oct. 5. The festival supports scholarships, back to school projects, Dugger Volunteer Fire Department and Dugger Outreach Food Program. Everyone is welcome. A Fish Fry well be held May 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dugger Park Community Building. The menu will include fish and choice of two sides from cole slaw, applesauce, baked beans and green beans along with a drink and dessert. Carry outs will be available. Linton Public Library will host Spanish/English classes open to all ages and speaking abilities on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.. Yoga with Belinda Baysinger will be available on Fridays at 9 a.m. on a donation basis. Please bring your own towel or mat.
The Linton Public Library Summer Reading Program early sign-up will begin Tuesday, May 28 through May 31. The program is for adults, teens and children.
American Legion Auxiliary 479 in Lyons will host a breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month, including a full breakfast menu.
Team of Mercy Suicide Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Switz City Fire Department at 206 Charlotte Ave in Switz City. This is a closed meeting for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. We want individuals to feel safe and comfortable and know we take their grief very seriously. Lyons Town Council will hold regular meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Lyons Community Building meeting room, 600 West Broad Street in Lyons.

Feed My Sheep Bible Bookstore at 74 1/2 S. Main St. in Linton will be hosting community prayer meetings each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.. Everyone is welcome. Please use the rear entrance where there is also parking available.
Apostolics of Greene County is offering a Christian Intervention Program for drug, alcohol or any addiction abuse. This is a 20-week ongoing program located at 310 E. Vincennes St. in Linton. Sessions are Sundays at 4:30 p.m. with the entrance on the west side of the building, going downstairs into the fellowship hall. An elevator is available at the north end of the west side entrance if needed.

The Greene County Literacy Coalition hosts twice-weekly meetings to foster language learning for native English and Spanish speakers. The group meets from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Annex and Wednesdays at the Linton Public Library. Apostolics of Greene County offers free lunch, good conversation and optional bible study at Grandma Bault’s Soup Kitchen located at Apostolic Church 310 E Vincennes Street in Linton every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Newberry Town Council meetings are the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at town hall. If it is a holiday, the meeting will be the next evening, Tuesday at 6 p.m. Newberry Town Hall, 430 Broad St. (St Rd 57) in Newberry.
The Feed Store Silent Book Club will meet from 3-5 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month in the taproom of Feed Store Beer Co.. A short social time will kick off the club followed by silent reading time of any book of your choosing and discussions/recommendations to wrap things up.
