Thank you for

helping with

zombie run

To the Editor:

The Shakamak Junior Class Parents held the first ever 5K Zombie Run at Shakamak State Park on Sunday, Nov. 4. The event featured a 5K run including zombie infested obstacles and was held in an effort to raise funds for the 2013 SHS Junior/Senior post prom and grand march.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the event. Nearly 70 runners participated in the first ever 5K Zombie Run, and many more people simply came out to watch and share in the fun. Thank you!

We would not have been able to hold the event if it were not for the enormous support from our sponsors and volunteers. We would like to give a huge thanks to all of the following sponsors for the event:

The Friends of Shakamak, Republic Trash Services, American Legion Auxiliary Post 172, Griffith Farms, Ridinger Enterprises, Hubbell Construction, MainSource Bank, Sons of American Legion Post 172, Technifab Products, Reister & Streuh Law Firm, Crowe Equipment, Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus, Greene County General Hospital, New Fashion Pork, Shakamak Graphics & Shirts, Wagler's Recycling, and Shakamak IGA.

We also would like to thank Niagara for donating water for the runners, Wabash Food Service, and B&B Food Distributors for donating snack bars for the runners after the race. Other thanks go to Wendy's of Linton, Shakamak Cafeteria Cooks, Farm Bureau Insurance of Linton, Friday's Restaurant of Terre Haute, Green County General Hospital, and Dr. Brian Stewart.

We would also like to thank all of the parents, family members, junior class members, and friends who offered their support in the organization, promotion, set-up and facilitation of the run.

We would like to give a special thanks to Julie Johnson for giving so much of her time while helping us with the organization, planning and promotion of the event, as well as being a fantastic zombie!

This was truly a great show of support from the community and local businesses! Thank you!
