Letters to the Editor
Mourdock used
the wrong word
To the Editor:
In response to: If it quacks like a duck.
Senate candidate Richard Mourdock would have conveyed his message more accurately I believe, if he had chosen the word "allowed" instead of "intended." The media and others have taken this one word and tried to say that Mr. Mourdock said that God intended to cause a pregnancy by rape.
I believe what he was saying was that God is the Creator of all life (which is true) and that life caused by rape is still created in His image and is precious. There have been women who have raised their babies conceived by rape and those people have been great assets to society.
It is not justification to kill a baby because it was conceived by rape. It is still murder. We should call abortion what it is. I believe this is what Mr. Mourdock was saying.
I'm thankful for the ones who vote to keep my tax dollars from going to the biggest abortion provider in the country. It is a smoke-screen when Planned Parenthood claims they provide mammograms and other health provisions, such as pre- and postnatal care for women, when the truth of why they are in business is because their biggest money-maker is doing abortions. That was the reason they got started and that's why they exist. Please research it.
There are liberal courts of appeals across this nation that are making the poorest of judgments in cases and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals is another example, when they rule that my tax dollars can be used to pay for murder.
The idea that freedom of choice is demanded when it comes to women choosing abortions, but is condemned when it comes to parents choosing where to send their children to school; that seems to be hypocritical to me. Isn't that saying it's OK for parents to control circumstances, while the child is in the womb, but once they are born the parents no longer have a right to send their child to a school of their choice. What kind of reasoning is this?
Where has the nation been built up in the last four years? Are you better off now than you were four years ago? At least if Mitt Romney gets elected he can run us in the ditch, but if President Obama gets re-elected we are sure to go over the cliff.

Thank you for helping with Mom Prom
To the Editor:
The Greene County Prosecutor's Office and Middle Way House would like to offer our sincerest regards to the 2012 sponsors of our Mom Prom.
With the success of this year's event, our goal of training a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) for the Greene County General Hospital was accomplished. We believe we will be able to offer to pay to train two nurses for our area hospital. This will keep victims that have been assaulted from traveling out of county to receive services.
Again, thank you so very much to everyone that attended, sponsored and supported this event. It would not have been a success with out you.

Veterans invited
to free breakfast
To the Editor:
With Veteran's Day approaching the ladies of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 22 of Linton wanted to show their appreciation to all the veterans in our area.
The Auxiliary will be hosting a free breakfast of sausage gravy and biscuits or pancakes on Nov. 10 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Linton Post 22 Hall.
This is a United States holiday, a time to honor and thank all men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.
On Nov. 11, 1918 the armistice between Allied and Central Powers that halted the fighting in World War I was signed in France. In the United States this was called Armistice Day. Then in 1954 this day of honor was changed to Veteran's Day to honor those who have served their country in other wars as well.
In many places the 11th day of the 11th month is celebrated by observing a two-minute silence at 11 o'clock in the morning, the hour at which the hostilities ceased.
Veteran's Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day. Veteran's Day celebrates the service of all military, while Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of the men and women who died while serving our country. Remember these dates and stop to thank your veterans and military.
