One of these days I'm going to ...do it all
One of these days I'm going to do many things that I have been planning to do for ages. I'm really going to do them. Bob Tackett gave me a "Round To It" many years ago -- a wooden coin-like device with Round To It painted on it. Now if I could just find it we can get started.
One of these days I am returning to the Grand Canyon. We have been there twice and it is spectacular. Two things I want to do are hike down into the canyon using the Bright Angel Trail and also ride the mules down into the canyon. I did consider the mule ride once and was told that any one who weighs over 210 pounds is not allowed to ride the mules. One of the mules looked at me and said, "Not today, not tomorrow, not ever, porker." That hurt.
One of these days I will learn to play the five-string banjo like Earl Scruggs or Mike Snider. I have two banjos and play both but not well.
One of these days I am going to write a book. Wait a minute. I've already published five books. Contact me to purchase them.
One of these days I am going to run for president -- of the Calvertville Chamber of Commerce.
One of these days I am going to sing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. I have sung on many stages not the least of which was the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
One of these days I am going to drive through Monument Valley. It will probably be like the Painted Desert where we drove many miles to see the tremendous beauty of it all. It will be worth it.
One of these days I am going to California to see the Redwoods and the Big Sur coast. We have been there a couple of times but have not done either of those things.
One of these days I am going to run the rapids in the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. We did that in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, but it is not the same. If I can just get BW to get in the boat, we are going. I may have to go without her.
One of these days I am going to South America and visit Rio de Janeiro -- River of January. I want to walk along the esplanade and have my feet feel the sand on Ipenema Beach and maybe gaze upon the girl who is tall and tan and young and lovely. While there I plan to float the Amazon River from it origins to the Atlantic Ocean. I understand it takes industrial strength Off to make the trip but we will.
One of these days I am going to the mountains of Colorado and witness snow at its most magnificence. I want to be where snow is measured in feet and yards not inches. I want to feel the snow pellets on my face and see the spectacular feathery clouds of huge flakes floating to earth. I want to see my breath ascending like smoke from the fireplace.
One of these days ...
