Did he really just say that? You've got to be kidding
Jock Strap: "Hello fans, and welcome. We are in the Zeller Arena on the campus of the Gifford Giraffes. I am Jock Strap alongside my partner Swet Socks. We are glad you joined us as we bring you the game between the Giraffes and the Beantown Counters
Swet Socks: These two teams are quite evenly matched. The Giraffes are taller but the Counters have better statistics all around. Let's go down to the floor to Daphne Dimples our sideline reporter."
Daphne: "Thank you guys. I talked to Coach Cal Culator of the Counters and he told me, 'We are going to have to take care of the basketball. We have to limit turnovers and not let them score. We have to block out and challenge every shot they take. We must make them play our game and not let them set the pace. The team that has the most rebounds will win the game.' Back to you guys."
J: "Thanks Daphne. The game is under way."
[It is now halftime]
J: "It is halftime and the Giraffes are ahead by five points. Daphne is with Coach Longnecker for his take on the first half."
D: "Coach, this has been a hard fought first half. You are ahead by five points. How were you able to get the lead and keep it?"
L. "We had to take care of the basketball ..."
D: "Back to you guys."
J: "That concludes our halftime report. The teams are coming back onto the court. Daphne is with Coach Culator of the Bean Counters."
D: "Coach Culator, you are down by five points. What did you tell your team they must do to get back into the game and win?"
C: "We are going to have to take care of the basketball ..."
D: "Thanks coach, back to you Jock and Swet."
[Game over]
J: "Well fans this has been a hard fought game. The Giraffes held on to win by 16 points. Daphne is with Coach Longnecker. Daphne."
D. "Coach Longnecker you won the game going away. What do you attribute to your victory?"
L: "The Counters are an excellent team with an excellent coach. We are lucky to win. I told our team we are going to have to take care of the basketball ..."
D: "Now back to Jock and Swet. Guys."
J: "Thank you Daphne. This has been a hard fought contest with the Giraffes coming out on top. They now advance to the final game tomorrow against the Torrance Twilights of the night school league. Stay tuned for the postgame wrap up. Charley Horse, Bob Bombinate and Lynn A. Mint will break down the game and explain the technical aspects of why the Giraffes won."
[Post Game Show]
Bob: "Thanks Jock. The Giraffes won because they took care of the basketball. They could not have won if they hadn't. They limited turnovers and did not let the Counters score. They blocked out and challenged every shot the Counters took. They made them play their game and did not let them set the pace. Rebounding was critical. The Giraffes had the most rebounds and they won. Thank you and good evening."
