I love Halloween
It’s my favorite time of year right now. I love the fall. The weather cools down, sweaters are fashionable again, boots too, my birthday happens, Spookfest takes place and, best of all, Halloween comes.
I love all of the things about Halloween. The costumes, the music, jump scares, haunted houses, makeup, fall parties, adorable kids in costumes and candy. I love vampires, witches, clowns, dinosaurs, Power Rangers, silly hats, themed parties, crunchy leaves, popcorn balls and jack-o-lanterns. I love black cats, skeletons, Frankenstein’s monster, gummy eyeballs, costume contests, bales of hay, glow-in-the-dark anything and Halloween parades.
I loooooooove being the emcee at Spookfest and I will be again this year.
And, for the first time since I moved here in 2001, I will have trick or treaters! Previously, I lived on the second floor of a very old and dismal building in Linton. Couldn’t hear trick or treaters from the second floor, so I got used to not having any. But now, I live in an actual neighborhood in a single-story residence very near downtown Linton, so I’m bound to have a glut of little batmen, cowboys, princesses, Dora the Explorers (is she still a thing?), skeletons, mummies, dragons, Dorothys and Totos, possibly a puppy or two and maybe a fireman and some nurses.
I am quite prepared with a pretty huge stockpile of candy, all kinds that I like, on the off-chance I’ll be stuck with it after the holiday. I have to laugh while typing that last sentence because the truth is, the kids will be lucky if there’s anything left by Halloween except Whoppers and Milk Duds. I’ll probably go ahead and restock....just in case.
