At least it isn’t snowing
In the newspaper office there is a little-known secret. The hardest column to write is the first one after a vacation.
That’s because you tend to let your brain go dead while away from the job. I avoid newspapers, news shows, anything that requires more thought than trying to find a new restaurant, what might be on the agenda, or forgetting to set the alarm clock.
So, back in Indiana, I find myself with a knowledge and information gap. Therefore, I must find a way to get over this obstacle before I tackle the morning deadline. A shopping trip with a friend might do the trick. So, we’re off to Terre Haute—to shop like we mean it!
What a surprise to find the local hobby discount store gearing up for the Christmas season. Yes, one aisle completes almost two of Christmas displays. Did I miss Thanksgiving? Or for that matter Halloween?
I understand that with today’s workforce that the competitive business must stay one step ahead.
I’m afraid if we start with the Christmas decorations this soon in the year, we might tire of them in December.
Now, after the trip around the city, I have the dreaded trip to the grocery store to restock the pantry. And NO I won’t be Christmas shopping
