February? Already?
Just when should a person take down their Christmas decorations? February is here already! There is a house in the area that has their outdoor Christmas decorations still blinking each night. Driving by this house - I wonder why?
True weather can be a deciding factor. No one really wants to take down outside Christmas decorations when the wind chill is below zero, but the weather has been mild.
When is it time to take down the Christmas tree from inside your house? A family in Switz City had their Christmas tree out by the curb, for trash pickup, by 7 a.m. December 26. Yes, we might tire of them soon after the holidays but so early the morning after?
At our house we leave the Christmas tree up until after the New Year celebration. As soon as possible after New Year’s Day we load up the yearly ornaments and remove the tree. Within a few days all the boxes will once again be up in the attic.
My friend Myrna leaves a large wreath she has hanging up over the fireplace until after St. Valentine’s Day. The wreath has red apples and various red berries with a red bow. “What defines it as a Christmas decoration,” she asks? She adds, “The winter months are so dark and dreary it helps to have a little brightness in the house.
Just when should a person take down their Christmas decorations? There is no good time to take down the displays that decorated the area during the Christmas season. I guess there are no set rules. Overall, I would like to see them all down by at least Memorial Day.
