Parlay Pace on hold
Almost two months ago, I made difficult admission to my wife of six months at the time that I had started placing sports bets online.
About 23 months later, I am obsessed with sports gambling. It took me over instantly. The question becomes, is it a bad thing?
Naturally, I want to excel at everything I try but sports gambling is out my control for the most part. Yet I keep trying to master it.
After two years of sports betting, I am basically even. Turns out, most of the “experts” on television are in the same boat.
To win big you have to bet big but with the salary of a high school sports editor I can’t exactly absorb much in terms of losses. This football season has been rough as I am down $200 after winning that sum the final weeks of last season. There is still time for a rally like I did last year but luck has been tough in 2021.
It sounds crazy, but I truly wanted to be a gambling expert around here. I had a skit planned out in my sports show called “Parlay Pace” where I go nuts offering gabling advice. It may still happen but I doubt Greene County folks want that info. I do know the future of sports media will include gambling and include it in a big way. How that applies to places like Linton and Bloomfield is unknown. Until I start winning more I think “Parlay Pace” will have wait. It’s a tough admission for me to make here.
So why sports betting? At the end of the day it is way better than buying a lottery ticket. Placing a bet before I go to bed makes me sleep easier knowing there is hope for a win the next day. In 2021, we can all use some hope.
