World Cup of Christmas

The World Cup is down to just a couple games with the final Sunday. I have enjoyed the tournament even though it came in December.

The World Cup is far better in the summer where it has the stage. In Qatar, that would not work as it is too hot in the summer to host the event.

Besides the point, this World Cup has been enjoyable despite controversies. Reports were that more than 6,000 people died building stadiums. There is plenty to not be happy about but the tournament delivered. Especially with how exciting the games were for the United States in the group stage. The win over Iran was a top moment of the year for the American sports fan.

Overall, I am glad the World Cup is winding down, Christmas feels out of place when an event meant for the summer is underway. In 2026, the World Cup will be in North America. That will be Christmas in July.
