Out with the wind
I have a thing for nice days, as I’m sure a lot of people do. When the temperature is just right and the wind is more of a nice breeze and that darned humidity is under control, it just can’t be beat.
I get a sort of calm from it, like all the worries go away for a minute and I can just be. It’s a feeling that’s hard to top. Hard, but not impossible.
Add a car ride with the windows down and the music up and you’ve got it. Some days, I feel something inside that says I just need one of those drives.
The wind rushes through the car, taking all the thoughts and worries with it. The music is just loud enough to block out the never-ending stream of things the mind stresses about. All there is to focus on is driving and singing along with the radio.
Good music, good temperature, relaxed state of mind. Peaceful.
There are some days when I do this just because it’s a nice day and I’m in a good mood, and there are others where it’s a form of self care.
It does good for my soul, to escape like that. And adding music just makes it about near perfect.
So the next time your mind is going a mile a minute and the wind calls to you, give it a shot. It might just make you feel a little better, too. Just remember to keep an eye on that speedometer and speed limit sign.
