I’ve had about enough of you
I think we can all agree that emails are a beneficial form of communication. I can’t think of a time in the last probably eight years where I wasn’t constantly checking my email for stuff. Classes, organizations, college applications, more classes and organizations, job applications and now for all things work.
And I, like many, have used my email address for a plethora of things. As it sits currently, my personal email has around 3,900 emails in the inbox.
Don’t get me wrong, I clean it out regularly. But between stores and restaurants, online businesses and everything else I try to keep up with, that sucker fills up fast.
I try and click that ever so hard to find ‘unsubscribe’ button when I no longer have a need for certain companies contacting me, but it seems they just keep coming back more often than not. Anyone else have that happen?
To me, unsubscribing means enough is enough. No more. Take me off the dang list.
But here I sit, nearly 4,000 messages deep in newsletters, coupons, this week’s promotions and lord knows what else as because a one-worded button won’t do it’s job.
It is just a problem of the modern age, user error (let’s be honest. With my luck, it could be.) or just some company trick to keep consumers in their audience pool?
And it seems with each that I delete, five more take its place. A never-ending, maddening cycle.
Oh look, 3,981. It won’t be long now...
