Everything I love
Like so many, I love good food. The food that maybe probably isn’t the best for you, but it tastes dang good and just makes you feel good. The fried stuff, desserts, pasta, the classic home-style meals, all of it.
I run on caffeine more often than not, whether it be tea or soda.
Don’t get me wrong, I do eat my veggies and enjoy a spinach salad. But as the song goes, “Everything I love is killing me”.
In my case, it’s not killing and it’s not “cigarettes, Jack Daniels and caffeine”. Well, maybe a little of the caffeine, but still...
I joined the ranks of so many who deal with heartburn on the daily, so much so that even water can trigger it. Fun, right?
After appointments and tests, I’ve been told to really dial back the diet. No fried stuff, no caffeine, no carbonated beverages, no chocolate, no citrus, no spicy stuff, nothing with a high acidity, etc., etc., etc..
This lovely little condition is called gastritis, and it’s a bland, bland road to beat it. “Everything I love, gonna have to give up...”
So I’ll just be here with my rice cakes and plain chicken. And just in time for fair food season, too... Go figure.
