Goose Pond, desserts, a winning combination
If you've been wondering what all the excitement is about when it comes to the Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area, circle July 10 on your calendar.
The Friends of Goose Pond -- an organization that helps promote the GPFWA with activities -- has scheduled a Community Birding Day on that Saturday.
An evening filled with bird watching and desserts will start at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Farm, located south of Linton in Stafford Township.
According to Breck Robinson, Goose Pond FWA land steward with the National Audubon Society, cobbler and ice cream will be available for purchase at the social, followed by a guided bird tour of Goose Pond.
Fulvous Whistling-Ducks, Cattle Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Black-Necked Stilts, Greater Yellowlegs, Black Terns, and Purple Martins are just some of the many birds spotted at last year's event.
This sounds like a great opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at what the Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area has to offer. The birds and scenery are beautiful, and you'll enjoy your visit.
If you'd like to attend, you'll need to RSVP. The event is limited to 25, and reservations are required. To register notify Robinson at breckrobinson@yahoo.com or call (812) 659-9901 and give your name, contact info, and the number of individuals in your party.
