Combined Federal Campaign needs your support
Are you a federal employee and want to help those in need?
The Combined Federal Campaign can help you accomplish your goal.
Federal employees in the Greene County area have the opportunity to donate to local, national and international charitable organizations through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the only authorized solicitation of employees in the Federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations.
The Greater Indiana CFC kicked off its annual campaign at Crane NSWC on Oct. 6. The campaign runs through October. However, donations will be accepted until Dec. 31.
There are several local charities from Greene County which area participating in the 2010 Greater Indiana CFC. The names and five-digit numbers for these nonprofits are Family Life Center - 72939; Greene County Literacy Coalition - 63499; Kids Count of Greene County - 62441, Middle Way House - 79457; PACE Community Action Agency - 98125; and Roosevelt Mission - 74663.
Last year, federal employees at Crane contributed over $171,000 to various charities in the community. This year senior leadership at Crane has set a giving goal of $174,000.
Federal employees are provided the opportunity to donate through payroll deduction or give a one-time donation of cash or check. Each nonprofit organization which participates in the CFC is given a five-digit number which federal employees use to designate or direct their contribution to the charity(s) of their choice.
Local nonprofit leaders are thankful for the money.
"We sincerely appreciate the Combined Federal Campaign donors. Their generous donations help the Greene County Literacy Coalition work toward our mission of attaining learner goals such as reading, obtaining their GED or speaking English more fluently," Beth Burcham explained.
Dianne Langer of the Family Life Center in Bloomfield also appreciates the support.
"Family Life Center is able to meet the growing needs of impoverished families through gifts from the CFC," Langer said. "These gifts assist with unmet utility bills, clothes, shoes, food and other direct services."
CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally helping raise millions of dollars each year.
Toby Strout of Middle Way House added, "Donations from individuals are the backbone of Middle Way House's operation. We really appreciate the support we receive through the CFC. Every contribution helps us provide the life-saving/life-changing interventions that comprise the Middle Way program."
