Zeller gives inspirational talk to Bloomfield FCA students
Sometimes we can't cover everything we want to, and everything our readers expect us to cover.
It's always nice when someone understands and goes the extra mile to provide us with the information and photos from an event.
Such was the case earlier this month.
On May 18 the Bloomfield Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted a combined Junior and Senior High Huddle. The guest was former Washington High School and Notre Dame basketball standout Luke Zeller.
You may remember his brothers, Cody and Tyler. Cody will be a freshman at Indiana University in the fall, and Tyler will be a senior at the University of North Carolina.
"With the last week of school being finals week, we decided to have our final meeting of the school year the week before final exams," Huddle leader Rick Hudson said.
Dave Hudson, FCA Area Representative for Bloomington and southern Indiana, was scheduled to be the speaker, and he brought Luke Zeller with him.
Zeller, an Indiana All-Star, Mr. Basketball, McDonald's All-American, and Arthur L Trester award winner from 2005, was definitely the star of the show, according to Rick Hudson.
Bloomfield student/athletes witnessed a video of "The Shot" that Zeller hit as his high school team defeated Plymouth in the Class 3A championship game at Conseco Fieldhouse his senior year.
The students then went to Glover Gymnasium for donuts, juice and milk for the start of the meeting.
Zeller has played professionally overseas and in the NBA Developmental League. He and his wife, along with his parents and brothers, are currently conducting basketball camps all over Indiana.
In attendance were over 60 people, including parents, faculty, staff, FCA members, as well as junior high and high school students at an FCA Huddle for the first time.
"Luke did a fantastic job explaining what it means to be a Christian athlete," Junior High FCA Huddle leader Mike Toon said.
Thanks to Rick for providing the info and photos, and a bigger pat on the back for bringing such a good role model for Bloomfield students to meet.
Keep up the good work.
