County Updates
One of the first questions from taxpayers, friends and family is “How is it going in there?” That’s a tough question to answer. I know what we have accomplished in these few short weeks. We know the direction we want to take the office, the county, the taxpayers but we are not there yet. You deserve more and know we will get there with the help of this great team in the office.
Our website has been updated, http://www.co.greene.in.us/department/index.php?structureid=17, as well as you can follow us on Facebook at Nicole Stahl Greene County Treasurer. The county website will allow you to pay your taxes online to avoid lines and delays. There is also the option to pay over the phone and our automated system should be finished soon that allows payment with the touch of the keypad.
The Greene County Recorder, Stuart Dowden, has an amazing program for Veterans in the community. Area businesses have the option to sign up in the Recorder’s office to provide discounted services for veterans. Any Veteran may come into the Recorder’s office for a list and any business can sign up as well. Stuart has worked diligently over the years to help the community and this is just another way he is offering services to our honored taxpayers. The Greene County Treasurer’s office is working to create a program of its own to assist Veterans. We are so proud of their commitment and dedication that we felt we should work towards doing something to make their lives better, even just for a moment. We hope to launch this in the next 60 days.
Also, an important bit of information should be shared as well with State, County, local (towns, cities) employees, to include but not limited to, Greene County Hospital employees, library employees, schools, etc. We are mandated by code to review your tax payments. If you are delinquent, we are required to notify your employer for garnishment. My staff and I have been trying to call everyone we know in this situation to get it rectified before we report it. However, it has been difficult to find everyone. Please contact the office to make arrangements to avoid this situation.
Here is the IC Code:

Thank you Greene County for this amazing opportunity to help make our county a bit better. Our first “Coffee and Comments” will be held March 12 at 7 a.m. at Rosie’s Diner in Hendricksville. This is my way to bring county government to you and for your concerns to be heard. My office is always open and I encourage a visit. We are diligently working to help each taxpayer.
