Linton bank will also collect tax payments
As tax season is quickly approaching, our office is working diligently to improve services offered to you. We made sure to document your issues and work towards making it a smoother process.
We were fortunate enough to have Owen County State Bank partner with our office to collect tax payments at their new branch in Linton. As with First Financial and Farmers & Mechanics, the payment coupon is needed and should match the total amount you are going to pay. All banks will begin collections two weeks prior to the May 10 and November 13 deadline. They will not accept any tax payments after the scheduled due dates.
For easier reading and more durable tax bill, we changed the statement to a light blue heavier weighted printed copy.
Payments online and by phone will be accepted up until midnight of the due dates and then the payment options will be locked out. All delinquent payments will need to be paid in the office or contact our office to get the new amount due with the penalties applied for a payment to be mailed.
We documented the manner in which taxes were paid to see where changes should be made. These methods are listed in the order of greater use to lesser use.
• Payments made by mail
• In-office payments
• Payments made on the web
• Payments made by phone
• Payments made at First Financial
• Payments made at Farmers and Mechanics
Tax statements will be mailed out a bit earlier this year. The new state deadline for mailing statements is April 13, 2018. This will allot for additional time to pay. Also, prior to receiving your tax statement(s), the amounts that are being billed will be available to review online at greene.in.wthgis.com.
With adding an additional location in Linton to make payments, we believe we have resolved a few concerns for our tax payers. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 812-384-4378 or cell at 812-227-1819. We will always make time for the people that make this county great, its taxpayers.
