Worthington and area communities reach out to help Alabama tornado victims

More than $9,000 was collected recently in a combined effort of the Worthington Community, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7117 and American Legion Post No. 106 to assist with tornado relief efforts in the Tusculoosa, Ala. area. Items purchased included: food, water, baby items, grills and charcoal. A 48-foot trailer donated by Dennis Green Farm was filled with the items. The truck loaded and sent on Sunday, May 8 to VFW Post No. 6022 in Cottondale, Ala. -- which is located near where a massive tornado touched down April 27. VFW Commander Ken Stalcup thanked the individuals, organizations and businesses who donated to the effort.
