Festival of Trees at the Shawnee Theatre

The 13th annual Festival of Trees kicked off on Friday night at the Shawnee Theatre in Bloomfield with a 'Wine,Cheese and Chocolate' event sponsored by Oliver Winery of Bloomington. The event serves as the biggest fund raiser of the year, benefiting the theatre's upcoming summer season. Bidding on decorated trees, wreaths and other holiday decor ends on Sunday, Nov. 27.

The Festival of Trees began on Friday evening and will be open the next two weekends and also on Thanksgiving day. Bidding on holiday items ends at 3 p.m. on Nov. 27.

According to Jessica Toon who was selling tickets for the 'Wine, Cheese and Chocolate' event, about 120 ticket sales had been made by approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The theatre serves as the collection point for the Eric Harrah Toy Drive, with new and unwrapped gifts accepted. Toy donations will then be distributed to the children in Greene County through the Family Life Center.
