EGHS celebrated the graduation of 75 seniors on Saturday, with a commencement ceremony held at the high school's gymnasium. The seniors filed in, wearing school colors of red, white and black, along with big smiles of pride and acheivement, as the processional "Pomp and Circumstance" was played by Eastern Greene's Band and Orchestra. After a greeting by Craig Allen McPike, Jr., the Eastern Greene String Band played "Counting Stars" by OneRepublic, followed by the salutatorian address, given by senior Amanda Butler. Butler, a Thunderbird Honor Society member, was also a recipient of an academic honors diploma, and her address was themed "What If", touching on special moments of all of their academic careers. Following Butler was valedictorian Katie Morguson, whose address spoke of each seniors ability to rely on themselves in life, and to trust one's instincts above all else. Morguson is also a Thunderbird Honor Society member, an academic honors diploma recipient and plans to attend college in Evansville this fall.
