Excavation may be cause of cracks at courthouse

Structural engineers are closely monitoring several cracks in the south and east walls of the Bloomfield courthouse that were noticed Monday by a courthouse employee. The cracks are apparently the result of excavation work under way on the south lawn as part of a $10.5 million courthouse renovation and addition project that began about two months ago.
