A 19-year-old Linton woman who was mad at a man because he filed a police report on her, for taking his cell phone, wound up in the Greene County Jail early Thursday on a preliminary charge of battery. Jury finds Moore guilty on battery charge

A six-member jury returned a verdict of guilty Thursday evening in Greene Superior Court in the trial of Levi K. Moore on the charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a class A misdemeanor. Seven people were seated early Tuesday when the trial began and one of those was designated as an alternate. The jury listened to testimony the first day but the trial was delayed on Wednesday after a strong storm blew through Bloomfield, knocking out power and forcing the closure of the Courthouse for the day.

The Bloomfield Town-Wide Yard Sale and Business Expo originally scheduled for Saturday has been postponed during to storm damage and safety concerns, according to a joint announcement by Bloomfield Town Council President Jo Ann Carmichael and Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce President Cynthia Ferguson. The event, sponsored by the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, has been rescheduled for the weekend of Aug. 2.
