Linton Public Library programs off to good start

Rare bird makes stop at Goose Pond earlier this month

On June 2, Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area became the first location in the state to record the sighting of a Roseate Spoonbill. The pink plumage and spoon shaped bill of the bird has been spotted on occasion in Indiana since the 1850s, however, the June 2 sighting is the only confirmed sighting of a Roseate Spoonbill ever in Indiana...

UPDATED: Linton man being held in Sullivan County murder case

A Linton man is behind bars after allegedly admitting to being involved in the murder of a 34-year-old Paxton woman early Monday. Gregory L. Hale, 34, faces one count of murder, a class A felony, in connection of the death of Jennifer Peak, 34, of rural Sullivan County. At approximately 1 a.m. on Monday, Sullivan County Sheriff's deputies were sent to check on the welfare of Jennifer Peak -- who resided at 1837 East County Road 500 South, in Paxton, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joseph L. Watts. Upon arrival, deputies found the interior of the trailer full of smoke and Peak was found dead in rear bedroom of the trailer while firefighters were on scene.

Eichhorst case cannot be re-filed, prosecutor says

A 21-year-old Dugger woman was acquitted Friday night of two felony charges relating to the death of her 15-year-old sister more than three years ago in a traffic accident. The not-guilty verdict by the seven-woman, five-man jury means Ali Eichhorst can not be taken back to court for a re-trial, according to Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw...
