LPD: Make sure to lock your vehicle

The Linton Police Department is encouraging you to lock your vehicle no matter where you are. Several random thefts of unlocked vehicles have recently been reported in the area, explained Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell. "We've had a rash of them in a couple of days ... and the majority of the vehicles have not been locked," he explained. "It's been kind of random -- some of the articles they are taking. Sometimes they are taking change and leaving expensive stuff."...

Quick work saves woman's home in Worthington

Quick work by two area fire departments working in sub-freezing temperatures resulted in minimal damage to a Worthington residence Sunday night. A 9:45 p.m. fire at the Dee Alexander home on Meridian Street serves as a reminder of the dangers of wood stoves during the winter months, according to Worthington-Jefferson Fire Department Information Officer Terry Koons. "She was a lucky lady," Koons said.

Woman hospitalized after vicious attack by pit bull

A 52-year-old Solsberry woman was hospitalized late Saturday morning after she was viciously attacked by a neighbor's pit bull dog in eastern Greene County. The attack was ongoing until Greene County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Jeffery Payton arrived on the scene and shot and killed the dog. Rhonda Patton, the victim, received emergency medical treatment by personnel from the Greene County Ambulance Service then was transported to Bloomington Hospital.

She was born in Linton on March 24, 1952 to James Jarvis and Dorotha Irene (Soliday) Goodman. Rita was a homemaker and an LPN.
