Jackson Township fire ruled arson

A Monday morning Jackson Township structure fire that did minimal interior damage is being called arson by investigators. Jackson Township-Owensburg Fire Chief Amy Wilson says the fire was set and is being considered a criminal arson act by the Greene County Sheriff's Department, which is handling the probe. "They (the sheriff's department) have a suspect," she told the Greene County Daily World on Wednesday. No arrests have been made in the case that is being investigated by Greene County Sheriff's Department Det. Jeremy Inman.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- An Indiana Senate committee has endorsed legislation that would prevent the state's public schools from starting classes before Labor Day. The Senate Education Committee voted 8-1 on Wednesday for the bill sponsored by Republican Sen. Mike Delph of Carmel and sent it to the full Senate.
