VERNE -- It wasn't easy, but Linton-Stockton and Bloomfield managed to survive a very exciting night at the Class 2A South Knox Sectional Friday to advance to tonight's 7 p.m. championship game. In the opener of the girls basketball sectional, the Lady Cardinals were able to outscore Eastern Greene 15-9 in the fourth quarter on their way to a 43-36 victory while the Lady Miners advanced to the title contest after holding off North Knox 47-43 in overtime in the evening's second contest...

Lady Miners coach hopes first sectional win in 24 years will bring swell of interest back to the program

VERNE -- For the first time in 24 years the Linton-Stockton Lady Miners are sectional champs and now the coach hopes it will bring a swell of interest back to the program. When the Lady Miners defeated Bloomfield 48-44 in overtime Saturday night at South Knox to claim the Class 2A title, it marked the completion of the first step of a turnaround that coach Brad McKinney hopes has the program headed in the right direction.
