Maurice Leo Haag, 85, of Fishers and formerly of Linton, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Greencastle, the son of Earl & Ludana (Hayes) Haag. He was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School, and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Medical Corps, and earning the Bronze Star. County road superintendent wants to turn Goose Pond FWA roads over to the state

Greene County Highway Superintendent Mike Hennette wants the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or the state of Indiana to take over maintenance of roads inside and around the Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area. On Monday morning, he received permission from the Greene County Commissioners to conduct a survey to determine which county roads -- mostly gravel -- would be affected in a potential formal request to state officials. Hennette said this could be entire or portions of county roads within the boundaries and those bordering the Goose Pond FWA, including the Beehunter Marsh area. The reason for the request is simple.
