Man faces car theft, drug charges

Bloomfield school board to advertise budget; take other financial actions

The Bloomfield School District will advertise a $3.2 million tax levy for the 2011 budget. On Thursday night, the Bloomfield Board of School Trustees agreed to advertise its 2011 budget, Capital Projects Plan and Bus Replacement plan in the Aug. 6 and Aug. 13 editions of the Greene County Daily World. Linton man listed on Sexual and Violent Offender Registry arrested on Clay County warrant

Monday, Aug. 2 * Linton-Stockton Elementary School, grades K through 5, will have registration in front of the office in the elementary building from 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. All returning students and pre-enrolled kindergarten students must register for the new school year. Please note: Incoming sixth graders will register at the junior high. * Greene County CAPE Consortium will meet at 8:30 a.m. to discuss personnel. * Greene County Hospital Auxiliary will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the conference room. Tuesday, Aug. 3 * Linton-Stockton High School will have registration in the high school media center from 8:30 a.m. - noon and from 1 - 6 p.m. You may enroll on-line at www.lssc.k12.in.us under the high school section and you may update student demographic information and print off and complete the registration forms which will expedite the enrollment process. You also need to sign into your child's Harmony account and update the information there as well. The first day of classes for students is Aug. 16. * The Bloomfield Town Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. in the fire station. The meeting is open to the public. * Bloomfield Chapter Order of the Eastern Star will have its Deputy Visits. LPD now has a golf cart in its fleet

The Linton Police Department took delivery Wednesday on a new vehicle. It's a golf cart, but don't expect LPD officers to be wheeling around on the golf course. The new black and white police cart is to be used on a variety of duties -- including patrolling during some annual park-related events like the Linton Freedom Festival and parade, the Linton Music Festival, and National Night Out. ....
